I'm in the process of trying to upgrade my Vcenter to 5.5 from 5.1. When I run the install in Simple or Custom it errors on the SSO installation and rolls back. I've tried the CIS fix and it didn't work. It starts to rollback on Configuring SSO components.

When installing vCenter Server 5.1u1b on Windows Server 2012 it uses ocsetup.exe (Windows Optional Component Setup) to install ADAM which works quite well. However, it does note OCSETUP has been depreciated and the scripts should be using DISM.exe
In Windows Server 2012R2 OCSETUP.exe has been removed. Hopefully this issue is resolved with vCenter Server 5.5 running on Windows Server 2012R2.
Windows Server 2012R2 retail version is available on TechNet.

our vadp backup stopped working and I can't log to vSphere console as an vadp user. So I thing there is something wrong with a password of the vadp user. But I found I forgot my root password to vCenter Server Appliance 5.1 (built on Linux). Is there any chance to change it?

I have used VUM to patch all my hosts from 5.5 to 5.5U1 and updated the tools on all VM's. I also updated them on my vCenter. Should I download the 5.5U1 installer and update my vCenter or is it ok to leave it as is?
Is it possible to move from the 5.5 SSO instance embedded in the vCenter Appliance to an external SSO instance running on Windows? I tried doing this yesterday in a lab environment and could not get the web client to work properly. The C# client seemed to work fine.
Also, is there a way to export users and groups from the vsphere.local domain on one instance and import them on another?

Ho inserito una chiavetta USB sul VHost che ospita la macchina virtuale; questa chiave è vista correttamente dal vCenter infatti:

mentre non è visibile in nessuna maniera dal S.O. Ho verificato anche la compatibilità del driver con quelli indicati (consigliati) da VMware.

I have HP G5 Proliant RMS server and trying to install LAB vCenter Server. I have installed EXSi 5.5 and created one VM installed win server 2008, added .NET support, static IP. Every thing goes smooth, when I login as Administrator to IP:9443, it web UI loads, but I dont see any objects to add data center, hosts etc... Please advice.. how to proceed from here.. I already did 3 times install...reaching this point.
I created a virtual machine using VMware vCenter and I installed Windows 7 Pro. SP1 32-Bit.
I I connect a USB key, the VHost check the key correctly:

But the OS don't check the key; I also verified the compatibility of the driver with recommended VMware's driver.
Can someone please direct me in the right direction.

If you have a 5.1U1 cluster, and then update vCenter to U2. When does a new vmware-fdm vib get installed on the esxi host? Do you have to put a U1 host in maint mode, than back out of maint mode? Do you need to turn HA off on the cluster, then back on and he puts the newer vmware-fdm on all hosts?
I just upgraded 1 of my hosts to 5.5 and during the upgrade it rebooted but I'm not able to connect to it with VCenter anymore. I removed it and tried re-adding but it says it can't connect. I can ping it. I cannot connect to it with the Vsphere client either. On the host when I go into configuration it has the lockdown mode grayed out. I'm suspecting that I cannot connect to it because it's in lockdown mode? If it's grayed when I directly log into the host how do I connect and disable lockdown mode??
I log into the host directly with the root account.
We had some communication issues this past weekend and our Windows team did not upgrade vCenter 5.1 Update 1 to Update 2. While, my team upgraded some of our ESXI 5.1 GA hosts to Update 2 to fix some bugs. The hosts are still in maintenance mode.
We have heard vCenter must always be a higher version than the hosts. Yet VMware compatibility matrix states that vCenter 5.1 Update 1 can manage ESXi 5.1 Update 2.
We use DRS, HA and 1 FT vm. We have Distributed switch and Standard switches.
Will we have issues? Which statement is correct. vCenter must always be a higher version, or the matrix?

We have one laptop that is connecting to a vm via vm view client. I believe it's using PCOIP. ESXi 5. vMware view 5.1.1 build-799444. This VM display a resolution as 2400 so make everything tiny. The local display setting is 1920. Tried to reboot both VM and local laptop and it temporarily fixed it. but it revert to 2400 again in next morning. it's using 2 monitors so there is no resolution setting when connecting (only Multi Monitors).
Where should I start troubleshooting this? any hint will be appreciated.

How would i update a windows vcenter server from 5.0U2 to U3? I can only find the full installation iso or zip file in the VMware website..
Second Question:
I have 2 vcenter servers (1 physical and 1 VM) with heartbeat clustering... What are the procedures?

I am running the vCenter Appliance with its embedded database. After a reboot of the Appliance, the service vmware-vpxd is stuck in a perpetual “Waiting for vpxd to initialize: ................ “
All other service appear be running. From the web interface I have also stopped all the services and ran the "test settings" and everything checked out. Can someone please explain why this service refuses to start?
If needed I can post additional logging information. I just need to know what logs are required.

In vCenter, all VM keeping automatically reload. The user name showed is "vcsadm" (vCenter server administrator), but this account only logon to vCenter only haven't do anything.
- Why all VM reload automatically ??
- Someone told me to disable reload function from "vcsadm", how to do it ?? And any impact if can't reload ??
- For automatically reload problem, how can I solve it ??
