Add domain to vsphere 6.5 authentication proxy
I am unable to edit the settings of the vSphere authentication proxy to add a username and password. I get the error below. Has anyone encountered this?

Alternative to vSphere 6.0 Web Client?
The vSphere web client for 6.0 has all kinds of quirks like being unable to sort, and causes popups with certain actions like trying to open a console session. The inability to sort IP addresses is killing me, it just seems like it should be such a basic function. It's also very slow and any change in sorting causes all of the information to be totally reloaded into the browser taking a couple of minutes of time to populate. There has got to be a better client than this somewhere, is there a 3rd party tool that can be used as a replacement?

vCenter and distributed switch issues
Hey all,
In a bit of a pickle with a vCenter deployment. A quick summary of this setup is:
- 3 EXSi 6.5 hosts
- 1 vCenter 6.5 virtual appliance created on one of those hosts
- 2 distributed switches created (1 for payload, 1 for storage) and applied to all 3 hosts
- Each ESXi host has 6 total NICs, and all are assigned to the distributed switches. 4 for payload, 2 for storage.
- Network adapters were left at the default setting (dynamic? static?) when added to the switches.
- All payload VLANs, as well as management, goes through the payload switch
So, changes were made over the weekend that required shutting down the environment. Everything was shut down cleanly. When it was brought back up, network access was funny. The management VLAN, which is where the hosts management network resides, worked from the hosts themselves (meaning we can access the UI for the host directly), but not any of the VMs, including vCenter, even though they exist on the same network. In the process of troubleshooting, a co-worker modified the settings for the vCenter server and moved the network off of that network and onto the default VM Network on the ESXi host itself. This standard switch has no NICs associated with it, so it did not work. Now, we're stuck. We can't move vCenter back to it's proper network. We get this error:
Addition or reconfiguration of network adapters attached to non-ephemeral distributed virtual port groups (network name) is not supported.
I'd like to remove one of the payload NICs from the distrubuted switch directly on the host and add it to the VM Network switch, but the edit buttons are all grayed out.
Wondering what my options are here. Are there any ways at this point to get vCenter back onto a network on the distributed switch? Or, are there any ways I can modify that switch on the host directly to remove 1 of the uplinks so I can assign it to a standard switch?
Note that this host is running some critical VMs on it right now.

vCenter 6.X behind a NAT Firewall
In my case i have a VCenter which is the Appliance ver 6.7 and i ave a bunch of hosts which are vSphere 6.5 or 6.7 and they all sit on the 192.168.2.x subnet for management. All works fine as far as management and vmotion etc which is on its own subnet. My problem is remote access to the ip of the vcenter. I have a 1:1 ip mapping with policy's in place and can bring up the initial webpage of vcenter. But once i click on html or the flash link after a few sec the system no longer shows the correct ip adress but the internal which i can not reach as it is behind a NAT port. Is there a way how to fix this ? I read someone mentioning DNS but not sure how that will help as it would be always the public ip.
There must be a way to make this work as i can access the vSphere host web intreface just fine via NAT mapping

6.5 to 6.7 VCenter upgrade fails at 5%
I'm at a loss currently. Trying to upgrade our Test VCenter environment from 6.5 to 6.7. Stage 1 finished fine. I get to stage 2 where the data is copied and it errors out with "A problem occurred while - Starting VMware Identity Management Service
I did not have this issue at all with 6.0 to 6.5. I have doubled checked forward and reverse DNS records for the source VCenter and those are good. I have also tried the echo "::1 localhost.localdom localhost" >> /etc/hosts fix that i found online. But that hasn't worked either. Anybody have any suggestions before I submit the logs to VMware support.

i read many documents about raw disks
in documents said we have to compatibality raw disks:
1-physical mode
2-virtual mode
it said in virtual mode we can get snapshot and backup
now i want to know for example i add 1TB lun to my vm through raw disk virtual mode now
1-it can get snapshot from 1TB lun ?
2-or can get backup from 1TB Lun ?
3-if it get backup from 1TB LUN now how can restore that LUN ?
4- i share raw LUN between 2 vms and select sharing Multi-writer is that correct ?
5- when i share LUN between 2 windows when create new folder in vm1 it not show on vm2 and had to restart vm2 for see changes what is the problem?

Host X.X.X.X is not compatible with the VDS version
Hi,
We recently upgraded our ESXi to 6.0 process was successful, When we try to upgrade VDS from 5.5 to 6.0, for some hosts it gives error as Host x.x.x.x is not compatible with the VDS version.
These ESXi are on 6.0 like other hosts, I could not find detail error logs, which tells cause for same.
Let me know where I can find error logs.

i have a question about scsi bus sharing
i want share vmdk disk between a few vms now i create 5 vms one of disks has been installed os and to vm1 add 5 disk and assign them to new scsi controller then select these 4 disks and add them (by select existing virtual disk ) to the other vms and finally select virual option from scsi bus sharing type my 5 vms are on different hosts but shared disks are on shared storage now in type of virtual in scsi type said virtual means : virtual disks can be shared between virtual machines on the same server but in this mode my vms are on different hosts and i could select virtual type and my vms power on what does that means exactly from physical and virtual in scsi bus sharing type ?

Tried two different users and two different browsers each.
No matter what, on the download page all I see is:
And they cannot be further expanded (and obviously show no links).

Cannot edit VM settings(Network Adapter) in ESXi 6.5u1 Dell Power Edge R640 web client

Had encounter problem when trying to edit the VM network adapter setting. The drop down list is empty and when i try to add one more network adapter it will go to an error

VMDk file convert from physical server and trying to add in virtual machine
I have created VMDk file from physical server using DISK2VHD and trying to add in the same drive in one of the virtual machine but the file not dispaly while adding the new exisiting hdd.
The extension of file is .vmdk.

Ayant des moyens quand même limité je souhaitais mettre en place la solution VMware HA mais la est le problème !
Je vais pour cause budgétaire me retrouver avec 2 vCenter
Viens alors ma question qui jusqu'à la est resté sans réponse malgré une recherche intensive sur diverses forum et autres.
Peut-on faire de la HA avec 2 cluster dans 2 vCenter différents ?

RVTools not working with VCSA 6.5 (TLS 1.0 is disabed)
Hi Guys,
Has anyone been able to get RVTools working on VCSA 6.5? For me it's not working since vCenter 6.x.
I urgently need to generate a report from it for Orphaned VMDK's across 30 vCenter. Can anyone please help me getting RVTools working?

Is vCenter 6.0 / ESXi 6.0 / Centos 6 GPT-aware?
I have increased the size of a VM volume in vcenter, but the change does not show up in parted:
The "reconfigure virtual machine" job shows as completed.
parted -l:
.....
Model: VMware Virtual disk (scsi)
Disk /dev/sdb: 32.2GB
Sector size (logical/physical): 512B/512B
Partition Table: gpt
"Partprobe" does not update the disk size, I have to reboot the vm to get the updated disk size.
Is this supposed to work? I've done it countless times before without having to reboot, but not on GPT labeled disks....

can't ping esxi management ip
Hi, need some help on one of my esxi 6.5 host.
i just set up the esxi host and configured the management ip on FC as following but i could not ping it, firewall team claim that they have open the port.
I ping from my laptop which through company network while remove connection from my laptop to the esxi host ILO after the ISO installation.
(*We only use Fiber for everything "Adapter 3 & Adapter 4" , Ethernet card will not use "Adapter 2", "Adapter 1" is for ILO where i remove in to install the ESXi )
please help
