vCenter 6.7 Backup not working when IPv6 enabled

Hello,

 

i just upgraded my test environment to vCenter 6.7 and tested the new Backup Task, but it don't work.

 

In /var/log/vmware/applmgmt/backup.log i found:

 

ERROR: BackupManager encountered an exception: While reading from '/etc/systemd/network/10-eth0.network' [line  7]: option 'gateway' in section 'Network' already exists

 

And the file looks like that:

 

root@srv10 [ /var/log/vmware/applmgmt ]# cat /etc/systemd/network/10-eth0.network

 

[Match]

Name=eth0

 

[Network]

Gateway=2a02:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx::250

Gateway=192.168.99.1

It must be a bug in the backup function...

Hi folks, why this is not supported topology?

However it maybe configurable [I didn't try it though]

Embedded PSC to replicate with External PSC also why the Inter-site replication isn't supported

VCSA 6.7 U1 product locker location

Hi VMwarers,

 

as much as I know that VCSA 6.7 U1 comes with enhanced features with VMtools that it stores it in a single place is that correct?

also while browing for the UserVars.ProductLockerLocation i can't find it neither following it's location absolute path nor relative tried to search also didn't get anything.

Bonjour,

lors de déploiement de ma VM j'ai une erreur : invalid configuration for device 0. je ne comprends pas car j'ai bien mes disques qui sont renseignés et mes cartes réseaux.

mais lors de l'installation  du systèmes d'exploitation sur ma VM plus de disque , ni de carte réseaux. et je ne peux exécuter un VMtools, que faire ? merci de m'aider.

I appreciate if someone could let me know to view the booting and shutdown process of vCenter on the screen.

 

In other words, what is the shortcut  key to invoke the booting/shutdown process screen , just like linux/unix platform.

vCenter REST API for Certificate Based Authentication

Hi -

 

Iam looking for vCenter REST API based Certificate Authentication .  I have installed VMware Identity Manager for importing SSL certificates.

 

However, Iam not what API has to be used login to vCenter using the certicate ( available locally )

 

can anyone help me on this ?

6.7 U2 enhanced auditing features "missing"- What did I miss?

Good afternoon!

 

Per this article https://www.virtuallyghetto.com/2019/04/enhanced-vcenter-server-audit-event-logging-in-vsphere-6-7-update-2.html , it appears that the vCenter events should be tracking info to include source IPs as part of login entries.  My vCenter is running VCSA 6.7U2b (upgraded from from 6.0 to 6.5, etc. over time) but all I see for a successful login is "User domain\username@127.0.0.1 logged in as h5-client/6.5.0".

 

I have increased overall logging from info to verbose and it still hasn't helped.  Looking at the advanced configuration settings, I see "verbose" for all the various logger.xxx options.

 

It's almost like some kind of auditing flag/setting is still stuck in a pre-6.7U2 state but I'm not sure where to look.  What did I miss?

Datastore sizes changing

I have Dell EMC San.

VM-cluster in 5 hosts.

I razed Datastore size from 20 to 22 tb.

In VSphere size rased successful. But when VeaamBR makes backup of any vm size of cluster shrinks to 20Tb.

After clicking "refresh capacity information" on this datastore - ut's updates and displaying sixe 22Tb.

Then story continuing.

 

What should i do whit this issue?

VM vCenter vSphere Client // VM vCenter WEB Client

Friends, I created a VM through vSphere Client 6, it happens that I need to enable a feature on that VM through WEB Client, but the VM does not appear in WEB Client inventory. Already removed from inventory and registered by the WEB interface still does not appear. What can I do to view it on the WEB console?

second independent persistent virtual disk on a VM missing

when I did a restored a virtual disk from veeam back software is restored a wrong virtual disk and replaced my shared date virtual disk on vmware vcenter 6.0

now my shared data virtual disk is missing, is there a way to recover?

my original virtual disk is not any more on the VM folder.

Hi

 

I am using vcsa 6.7 latest version , and want to implement VCHA , i was read about that, just want to know my vcenter management is on vmnic3 on vds with LACP mode and esxi management is on vss on vmnic1.

now want to know do i had to implement vcha on vmnic3 on vds with different vlan or had to implement that on vmnic1 on vss with different vlan ?

Hello guys,

 

Im planning to upgrade my vcenter environment from 6.0.0 (Build 3634793) to latest 6.7u2a.

 

currently i have 3 servers :

1.DB - for SQL running on windows 2012r2

2.PSC - Platform Services Controller running on windows 2012r2

3.VC - vCenter running on windows 2012r2

 

I want to remove this mess and create one VMware vCenter Server Appliance on Server 2016..(maybe later i'll create another one for HA.)

whats is the proper way to Upgrade my environment?

 

of course that later ill update my ESXi hosts one by one to 6.7u2 also..

VCSA upgrade to 6.7U2c - extensions warning

Hi,

 

During Phase 2 Pre-upgrade check result I got a few warnings regarding vRops and VDP extensions.

 

"the vCenter Server has extensions registered that cannot be upgraded to or may not work with the new vCenter Server"

 

I will not use these products after the upgrade so not sure if I should take any actions (un-register/shut down respective VM's) or just ignore and proceed with the upgrade?

How to enable audio in virtual machines hosted on vcenter server with esxi 6.7

Hello there,

 

I've configured my virtual machine and it is working fine, but I need to enable audio inside the machine.

I've searched and find that following code will do the helpm I've added following code in .vmx file:

 

sound.autodetect = "TRUE"

sound.fileName = "-1"

sound.present = "TRUE"

sound.virtualDev = "hdaudio"

sound.pciSlotNumber = "34"

 

 

it worked fine for few hours, but after that I'm trying again and again, it is not working anymore. Can anyone please tell me how to do this?

i was read documents but could not find what service will be start and stop after vcsa 6.7 installation follow are my vcsa services are the status of these servers ok ?

VMware Update Manager Single Host Cluster

I got a question about the update manager.

One of my customers got multiple clusters some with single host some with multiple hosts and wants to perform an update sheduled at 3:00 am

Is there any way to shedule an VM power off for the single host clusters?

vCenter Server 6.5 vcsa-ui-installer/win32/installer.exe fails - incomaptible windows version

Hi,

 

I am trying to migrate vCenter Server App 5.5 (VM) to 6.5.

First I mounted the ISO image (VMware-VCSA-all-6.5.0-9451637.iso) and called the installer.exe file. This failed with comment that the file is not compatible with windows version (my workstation still runs Windows 7 Pro SP1 64bit).

I extracted ISO file to a directory on C: drive and tried again. Same result.

 

Any idea what causes this and how to overcome this sitution?

 

Any other installation method (other than running the installer.exe) recommended?
