I am trying to get vCenter to send e-mails out for some of the alarms that are generated. I have added an SMTP server into the Administration - vCenter Server Settings.- Mail field.
I have tried using both IP and FQDN for the SMTP server.
I have tried using a sender account that exists, and a bogus account.
I have verfied that I can telnet to port 25 of our SMTP server from vCenter and from our guests.
I have completely disabled the virus scanning software on the vCenter host
I still get an "Alarm 'Virtual machine cpu usage' on XX-XXXXXXX cannot send email to xxxxxxxxxxx@xxxxxxxxxx.com; error" error whenever it tries to send out.
I am not really sure what else I can try at this point. I just seems to fail no matter what I do.
Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions that I can try?
Thanks
