Issues with VMware Player

Can anybody help me please?

I have two issues, but here is the background. I am running a VM using VM Player with Server 2008 x64 Enterprise as my OS and Windows 7 on the client system. The version of Player I am using is 3.0.1 and am not able to upgrade to a more recent version as the Virtual Machines created on the new version will not be compatible with the remainder on 3.0.1.

Issue 1: I get the following error message:

"Could not get vmci driver version: The handle is invalid.

You have an incorrect version of the driver "vmci.sys". Try reinstalling VMware Player.

               Module DevicePowerOn power on failed."

I have uninstalled the software and reinstalled again, downloading the software from the vmware download sit and still get the same error message. I have also gone into the configuration of the .vm file and changed the vmciio:present settings from true to false. Should I be doing this?

Issue 2: Now the VM is not recognising the CDROM. I have tried using the actual drive allocated on the client system and also letting the VM select it automatically, both ways fail. I have looked through other forums that show screen shots of how to rectify this issue, unfortunately the screen I am presented with is different to the one being demonstrated.

Any help would be fantastic, Thank you.
