Afternoon all.... I hope someone can help me out.
Background:
We have a 3 host vSphere setup with the hosts running ESXi 4.1. There is a dedicated SAN for the setup. These sit in one cluster. I have recently purchased a new SAN and 3 new hosts that have been configured using ESXi 5.1 in a different cluster but both clusters are controlled from the same vSphere box.
Problem:
I have been migrating the servers from the 4.1 cluster (hosts and storage) to the 5.1 cluster (hosts and storage) using the migration tools. This works fine. when I have migrated the server, I add in the new network and fire the server up, again no issues. I reboot (if required) and then upgrade the VMTools. I then reboot again and then shutdown. After this, I upgrade the virtual hardware, fire the server up again and reboot. This si where the issues occur.
In Device Manage I have a number of devices that have warnings:
and when you open one of the devices:
Now, i have tried to reinstall the driver but Windows is saying that the most up to date drive is install. I have removed the hardware, rebooted and it comes back as above.
I have spoken to VM Support and they palmed it off to Microsoft as it is Microsoft drivers that have the issue. I have hunted on the web and all i can find is either re-install the driver or adjust system resources. No considering there was nothing wrong with the resources before migration.
Has anyone else seen this and more importantly, resolved this? Where do I delete the driver files from in order that Windows downloads fresh ones? I have forced Windows to look online but still reports that the most suitable ones are installed.
I am hoping that someone can help me or I have 10 servers that will need to be rebuilt instead of migrating.
