Linked Mode Issue

Hi, have installed to vCenter servers separately using 'simple install' i.e. installs vCenter, SSO, and inventory.

When trying to configure linked mode the process fails and various messages pop up e.g. error 29940/42 could not stop or start vmware management webservices, and now error 29939.

The status.txt and jointool.log have a message 'failed to determine LDIF path from command line'

The pre-reqs state:

  • DNS - this is OK
  • Domian - same domain
  • NTP < 5mins - this is OK
  • Licenced - this is OK
  • Local admin - this is OK
  • Same SSO - as above I used simple install

If the issue is to do with SSO then need advice. Basically, the vcenter servers are in separate datacenters and databases on local SQL clusters, hence reason for also having a SSO DB at each DC (i.e. this was done via simple install).

Does this mean that one vCenter settings must be changed so that it no longer uses the local SSO DB and uses remote SSO DB? - this also means more network traffic over WAN

Also, if need to change SSO, then how does one go about doing this for the vcenter server - need accurate info on this as production server

Thanks
