vSphere Web Client (Flash) blocked on "Loading"..

Hi everybody,

 

I want to access "Vmware vSphere Web Client" with Chrome but every time I get stuck on "Loading", see my attachment.

 

I'm using Chrome (62.0.3202.2.75) (64 bit) and I'm using Adobe Flash Player 27 Beta -> http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/flashplayer.html, I tried with a stable version but I had the same issue.

 

I have authorized "Flash" everywhere but every time on chrome I have the message "The following plug-ins have been blocked on this page: Adobe Flash Player" and yet I allowed everything. I use Adobe Flash Player but the issue maybe related to something else.

 

For information: I tried with Internet Explorer and Firefox I still get the same issue.. I am stuck on "Loading". I installed Adobe Flash Player 27 Beta for Firefox and Chrome. I am on a Windows 7 and I also tried via an Ubuntu machine with Firefox and I have the same issue.

 

Please, do you have an idea ?

Error in Update Manager since vCSA Upgrade to 6.5 Update 1

Hi there,

 

We have recently upgraded our vCenter appliance from 6.5 to 6.5 Update 1.

Since then, the Update Manager Tab in the webclient is not working anymore, we always receive the following error message:

 

interface com.vmware.vim.binding.integrity.VcIntegrity is not visible from class loader

'vCenter Converter' fails to install with 'Error 29142: Could not start service Vstor2 MntApi 2.0 Driver (shared)'

Hi,

 

Trying to install 'vCenter Converter', the installer fails with this error:

    - Error ->        "Error 29142: Could not start service Vstor2 MntApi 2.0 Driver (shared)"

    - Event Viewer ->     "The Vstor2 MntApi 2.0 Driver (shared) service failed to start due to the following error: A device attached to the system is not functioning"

 

Environment is:

    - Physical Machine: HP Compaq nw8440 ( laptop )

    - Operating System: Windows XP Professional SP3

    - Run 'vCenter Converter' installer using 'Administrator' account

 

There is nothing attached to the laptop when I try to install 'vCenter Converter'

 

I tried:

    - Several versions of 'vCenter Converter' from 4.3.0 to 5.5.3 ( all of them supporting installation in Windows XP ) -> Same error

    - Uninstall / Reinstall USB ports ( USB Root Hub ) in the Physical Machine -> Same error

    - Restart several times the Physical Machine -> Same error

 

Attached is the log file the installer generated ( invoking the installer: VMware-converter-all-5.5.0-292238.exe /v"/l*v VMwareInstall.log" ) -> Search for: '29142'

 

Any idea?

Cannot Create or Edit Report?

Maybe I am having a dense moment, but I cannot seem to be able to create/edit reports within my vRealize Operations Manager instance...

I am running the newest update and it is connected successfully to my vCenter.  I can run existing reports correctly, but cannot edit or create new ones.

 

Anyone run into this issue or have any insight?

Managing Permissions in a Shared Recovery Site Configuration

Hello we have two sites with two vcenter servers and SRM with twin versions so all ok there. We would like to implement a DR scenario for multiple independent offices. These parties we'll need to create and run their own Recovery Plans. However we need to provide these parties enough credentials to view and manage only what is theirs. I have read these two VMware documents and in the second one I read:

 

1.  Managing Permissions in a Shared Recovery Site Configuration 

 

2. Site Recovery Manager Roles Reference 

 

<All users must have at least the System> Read privilege on the root folders of vCenter Server and the Site Recovery Manager root nodes on both sites.>

 

Now what does that mean exactly? That the read permission has to be applied  to the top root of  the vcenter server? Or to the top root of their own folders in the vcenter server VM view in the client? If it is the first assumption the users will have permissions to view other parties VMs and Hosts. In our  environment the parties we manage don't have dedicated Clusters. So we should have a dedicated vcenter server for each of our party/customer?

Does anyone have experience with SRM and shared permissions. We obviously will retain the SRM administrator role, however what leaves in doubt is the statement that "All users must have at least the System > Read etc...."  so probably it seems that SRM is not the right product for our scenario and maybe the vSphere RM would be a better solution.

vCenter permissions from AD groups not working

We have a 6.5u1 VCSA vCenter. If I login as admin@vsphere.local I can do everything, but if I login with an AD user which is in my 'vCenter admins' AD group I keep running into 'permission denied' errors. That group is given all the privileges right at the top of the tree and there are no specific permissions granted to me or the group anywhere else. We connect to AD using LDAP.

 

Is there anything like the Windows 'Effective Permissions' tool for vCenter? I'm sure I saw something about vCenter being incompletely linked to AD in some circumstances too but I can't find that one again.

 

Any ideas? This is a real pain.

VCSA 6U3b vmtools problem

Dear All,

 

I upgraded  my vcsa server from 6U2 to 6U3b.VCSA is virtual machine on ESXI.I have a problem about upgrade  vmtools.I don't succed it.VMtools status is Running(out-of-date).

 

vmtools version is  10.1.0.57774 (build-4449150) now .I want to upgrade  10.1.10 version.

VCSA release is below

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 (x86_64)

VERSION = 11

PATCHLEVEL = 3

 

When I want to upgrade by console I am  getting error below.

 

 

When I try upgrade interactive tools but I can't see .iso file.

 

I tried this resolve for vix error code = 21009 but not solved.

 

In ESXI/ESX using the Web and vSphere Client

  1. Login to vCenter Server/Virtual Center using vSphere Client/Web Client.
  2. Right-click on virtual machine and click to shutdown or Power off the virtual machine.
  3. Right-click on virtual machine and click edit settings.
  4. Click the Options tab and select Generalunder Advanced.
  5. Click Configuration Parameters and a new window opens.
  6. Click Add Row and type isolation.tools.guestInitiatedUpgrade.disable and FALSE under Value
  7. Click OK twice to close all the windows.

 

 

  Finally I tried to  reinstall vmtools.

 

I used the following commands

 

zypper addrepo http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Virtualization:VMware/SLE_11_SP3/Virtualization:VMware.repo

zypper refresh

zypper install open-vm-tools

 

It need "libdnet.so.1()(64bit)" for vmtools 10.1.10 I  tried install rpm packet  but this rpm packet need different rpm packet.RPM packets request    is as a chain.This problem is still continue.

 

Have a any ideas about this problem solution?

Vrops Rest API and average over a time period

Bit of background

 

We are using vrops for are automation (Ansible) placement and part of that is the datastore to deploy onto. We currently are looking at the remaining capacity stat and if the VM being deployed to that datastore is equal to or greater than the remaining then skip and check the next and so on. Now that worked ok in the past because we were limited to 2tb datastores ( dont ask). We are now moving to NFS (netapp) mounts which are all thin disks and also 25tb is size.

 

My concern is that we can use that simple method anymore and need to take into consideration other metrics like latency and IO etc.

 

So my thinking is use the rest calls into vrops to get an average over x period for latency etc.

 

Has anyone dont anything like this, can this be done and any advice if there is a better way to do it.

One DRS vMotion at a time

is there any possibility to configure the cluster with automatic DRS and it will be only one vMotion of a virtual machine at a time?

Unable to edit an existing connection for AD over OLDAP Identity source with SSL protection enabled in vCenter Server 6.5

My issue is I am no longer able to authenticate with vSphere using my OLDAP connection using FreeIPA. I upgraded to VSCA 6.5 6 months ago from 6.0 and have not experienced this problem before. I can only login using the vsphere.local domain using the standard administrator account.

 

Here is my environment set up.

vCenter Server ApplianceVCSA 6.5.0.1000

ESXi Hosts are 6.0

All hosts are running CentOS 7.3

ODLAP Source is FreeIPA running 4.4.0 API_VERSION:2.2.13

I am using FreeIPA as my IDM solution to connect to my vSphere env and have been doing so successfully for the past year.

 

Here is a good start to my issue except I am not trying to add a new LDAP connection I am trying to troubleshoot an existing connection. I believe I started to run into this issue when I changed passwords to all hosts, servers, esxi hosts, and ILOs when we had an employee leave which is pretty standard across the industry. I am not sure if this coincidental or directly correlated

Alarms mail setting

I have a question about the SMTP function in virtual center

 

i have configured the vCenter Server Setting => Select Mail sender setting. I filled in SMTP sever and the Sender Account (vCenter@mydomain.com) .

 

In the defination of the alarms configured my own mail adres withing the action tab.

 

I tested it by generating a few alarms, but i recieved no mail, instead i got the error "cannot send email to ....."

 

i checked the exchange server if relaying for the vCenter server was enabled, it was, i use a telnet session to port 25 and got a connection to the microsoft exchange server.

 

What am i missing ?

SMTP username and password on Vcenter

Want to configure SMTP and using a hosted exchange which requires SSL and port 587 to be used.

 

 

 

Updated the port on the Vcenter advanced setting and want to know what will be the key parameter to add on the advanced setting for username and password.

 

 

 

Not able to receive an email and getting the error message on the vpxd as:

 

 

 

Failed to send the mail to SMTP server servername at port 587

error = the server rejected one or more recipient address. the server response was sender address rejected: access denied

ESXi Host Not Responding

Hi

We seems to have an issue with our VCentre and/ or our ESXi hosts. We are running ESXi 6.5 U1 on the hosts and we have come in this morning and all of our hosts are saying (not responding). We have tried to reconnect them and it come up with an incorrect username and password error but I am able to connect to the esxi shell using the same credentials so i dont think this is the actual error. We have also disconnected one of the hosts and tried to re-add it and we get the same error. I dont really want to remove the host from the Inventory and as all of our hosts are running critical systems I am unable to put it in maintenance mode and reboot. Any ideas?

I need to return, if I find vm, the vcenter, datacenter, cluster and portgroup of vm but I do not know how to do it...

Custom Profile Bug

Running 6.6.1

 

We have 30 custom profiles that i created but looking at them from administration-configuration-custom profiles i can only see the first 20. It seems to be a bug where it wont show me the second page. Or atleast does not know anything about a second page. ( says there are 20 out of 20 items and the search and sort is limited to the 20 on the page

 

If i go to custom profiles section in the policy i can see 20 of 30 items and the second page.

 

Has anyone noticed this or is it just me. Look at the bottom right of both screen shots

Issues when using Windows Session Authentication

I recently upgraded my machine from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 and now I am unable to use Windows Session Authentication when logging into vCenter.  I have downloaded the Enhanced Authentication Plugin and installed it.  I'm not sure if there is a policy that is affecting my browsers ability to load my credentials into the webpage or what else it could be. 

 

The Issue:

When I click the radio button for Windows Session Credentials, the webpage fills in my username (domain\username) and grays out the fields.  When I click Login,  I get an immediate  "Access Denied".  I know I have access because I have no issues on Windows 7 and 8.  Please Help!

freshly deployed vcenter appliance - unable to connect to vcenter inventory service

I'm wonderiing if someone could help?

I've just deployed a new vcenter applicance (for testing) and told it to use our existing SSO enviroment which has 2 other vcenter applicances in production.

 

The new vca is version 6.0.0-5202527 - I can login to it using SSO enabled accounts so the authentication must be working ok...

However on login it says unable to connect to vcenter inventory service...

 

The logs on the vsphere-client show lots of instances of this java error, but it's doesnt really explain why its failing to connect??
