I am currently at vcenter 6.0 Update 2a and I cant go to update 3b as yet because of third party tools that isn't compatible with update 3b. Wanting to know to get around this if I can only install the security fixes instead of the full update to 3b?

We've just upgraded to 7.3 and I am trying to re-assign ownership as part of a workflow where a service account does the request then flips ownership at the end. I am trying to use the "Request a catalog resource action" to do this but always get a 400 Bad Request. I am running this on the Change Owner op of the Deployment passing in just one value provider-NewOwner set to the desired user. I can reassign from the gui with no issues but am always hitting this error in vRO. HELP!

I would like some assistance with a error I'm getting at my protected site with SRM when i log into the web client.
The error occurred after i rejoined my host at my protected site to vCenter and re installed SRM at the protected site and reconfigured my replication, sites and protected groups.
So the error occurs every time i login to the web client on the protected site it first says No matching SRM key found then goes on to say SRM server with guid not found.
The strange think is if i click on home and go to Site recovery manager i can see my site pairings, can access my protected groups and recovery plan.
I have broke the pairing and reconfigured the protected and reocvery site but i am still getting the error on the protected site
The recovery site is fine and I'm not getting any errors there

Is there any limitation on adding esxi hosts on vrealize evaluation version? once i add second host only those host vms are visible in environment tab.
During an ssh patch session of vCenter PSC v6u2 to v6u3b using the following command:
software-packages stage --url
(patch pulled from default location)
software-packages install --staged
(Started to update fine)
I downloaded the patch file and mounted it, but the console complained there where no patches on it, thus my attempted to use the remote patch depot.
At this point the ssh connection failed.
After several minutes and a reboot of the PSC, I could not cause the sshd to start.
I have been unable to resolve the issue. I have a VEEAM backup of the PSC, but when it tries to restore, veeam shuts down the existing instance thus it cannot connect to finish its work.

Hi all!
Never done this before, so I thought to ask for some opinions on this...
Situation is the following:
We have one vSphere 5.5 Enterprise Plus cluster using Nexus1000v and we want to migrate the virtual machines to a new vCenter 6.5 using dvSwitch instead of Nexus.
Both vCenters have the same AD as SSO configured and the hosts are accessing the same shared NFS storage. vCenter 5.5 is based on Windows, vCenter 6.5 is an appliance.
So far I had the following plan:
1. Upgrade the old vCenter to at least version 6.0 to have Enhanced Linked Mode and Cross vCenter vMotion.
2. Upgrade one old host from 5.5 to at least 6.0 because of the above.
3. Add a dvSwitch to the upgraded host containing appropriate port groups to migrate from Nexus to dvSwitch on that hosts.
4. Create the same dvSwitches on the target 6.5 site.
5. vMotion VMs to the upgraded host old cluster
6. Migrate VM network on the upgraded host from Nexus to dvSwitch.
7. Migrate VMs on the upgraded host from old vCenter to new vCenter using Cross vCenter vMotion.
8. Repeat 5 to 7 until all VMs have been moved.
Is that the correct way to do it? Or are there better ways to migrate the VMs without disruption?

I have a VCENTER SERVER 6.0U2 running on windows server 2008R2
Few days ago, i use the VCETNER 6.0U3 ISO to in-place upgrade my VCENTER.
But the upgrade is failed because some issue, the installation auto rollback itself.
After rollback, some of the function is unable to use in the VCENTER like web client and Vmotion.
But the most important service is Vmotion. When process the Vmotion Migrate, will show up error:
"A general system error occurred: PBM error occurred during PreMigrateCheckCallback: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it."
According of the VMWARE KB
The Profile-Driven Storage service maybe not running, after i check out of the window service, confirm the service is not running.
When i right click start the service, the service cannot start. According the log of the service (vmware-sps\sps.log)

recently i worked with sysprep directly to test an Option called <CopyProfile>true</CopyProfile> which getting placed in the <settings pass="specialize"> Section.
i wanted to test this also over the Customization Specification Wizard to deploy easier. But i don't know where to place it inside the vmware xml file and how this option is called there.
Maybe anyone knows about?

i'm trying to provide a XP-guest OS for my study. In order to get this i use the Software "VMware vCenter Converter Standalone V.6.1.1" (should be the lateste version) on my xp-device and convert the local machine by using default settings. The hypervisor is the "Vmware Workstation 12 Player". After the conversion i try to run it and the OS starts normaly but after a short loading-screen it appears a blue-screen and then a message "windows cant be started successfully...the reason could be a software-/hardware change...safe mode". i tried safe mode und different kind of conversion setting but nothing worked. so please help me...

I want to download the VCSA trial in order to evaluate some features and the migration from v5 to v6.x
With my personal account It looks like the download is not an option, on the forum someone said that you need to have a license in order to download the trial version for VCSA.
I got in touch with my change manager and he gave me the account number and customer number we have with VMware, but he is not aware of any accounts used to get .iso or other media.
All options from vmware website are requesting a e-mail address to reset account.
Can someone from Vmware help me out with this one? I can use my corporate e-mail account from that point forward.

I have a esx host running 5.5. It's management network is configured on one physical NIC and recently we have patched in additional NIC's. I now need to move the Management network over to one of the new physical NIC's. The current setup is using a standard vSwitch. Is it possible to migrate the management network over to one of new physical NIC's without isolating the host, or is it easier to go back to square one and remove it from vCenter, reconfigure the management network from the service console and re-add it to the vCenter?
I upgraded my vCenter Appliance from 6.5e to update 1 yesterday and upgraded the ESXi hosts from 6.5d to 6.5 update 1. There were no issues/errors during the upgrade.
Before performing the upgrade I have been logging into the Flash or HTML5 web client using my AD credentials. My VCSA is domain joined and only had an IPv4 address.
After the upgrade I added an IPv6 address to the VCSA and can no longer login to the VCSA using my AD credentials, I get the "Invalid credentials" error after clicking the Login button. This only started happening after adding a static IPv6 address to the VCSA. I did add a reverse DNS record for the VCSA FQDN. When I only had an IPv4 address SSO worked but now that I have dual IPv4/IPv6 addresses AD logins are failing and the only way for me to login is to use the administrator@domain.local account.
If I run the following on the VCSA while logged in as root and using the shell:

This got me thinking about time...
So I checked my VCSA time and it was one hour off compared to the ESXi servers and domain but the VCSA does use an NTP server (which is my domain controller). I have set both IPv4/IPv6 addresses for the NTP server.
So I logged into https://vcsa.domain:5480/ and it was using the correct NTP settings and syncing but it was one hour off. The strange thing is, the time zone field is empty. I tried setting it a few times (and rebooting) but its still empty.
Not sure if the lack of a time zone is the cause of this issue but how can I get my SSO with AD working again?
I also tried disabling NTP and setting the time manually on the VCSA but it kept changing back to the incorrect time (even after a reboot).
All my SSO logins are currently broken and I can't do Citrix MCS as it keeps saying the username/password is incorrect so plenty has gone wrong.
Is this a time issue and if so how do I resolve it? Are there any other logs that would be helpful in troubleshooting this?

i have a VM i am shutting down to migrate to new host and datastore. it fails at 30% with "operation timed out". The VM has doesn't have any attached ISOs via DVD. it is actually a Cisco Unity Connections Server deployed from Cisco OVA. two 500 GB vDISK, 7vCPUs, 8GB vRAM. tried going through logs on vcenter and host but not talented enough to find anything. we have moved all the other VMs successfull of this host to the new host and datastore.

I am using the vCenter 6.5 and am looking to increase the memory size of one of my VMs.
I am not able to do so, because am facing an error that says "memory limit doesn't accept a negative value -1048576" and the GUI is not accessible from there.
Why is this behavior?
Is there a way to fix this?
