vmware-sps service failed to start since update to 7.0.0b

Hello,

my last successful appliance backup was at the 22.06.2020, after updating from 7.0.0a to 7.0.0b no backup was started because the vmware-sps isn't running.

Even when i reboot the VCSA the service don't came up. In the sps.log i found this errors:

ERROR opId=W2 com.vmware.vim.storage.common.VmodlErrorStrings - ProviderLoader initialization is ongoing.

ERROR opId=W2 com.vmware.vim.sms.StorageManagerImpl - [queryProvider] Failed with exception.

ERROR opId=sps-Main-978725-506 com.vmware.vim.storage.common.kv.KvDefaultValueMarshaller - Unable to unmarshal stream to object.

ERROR opId=sps-Main-978725-506 com.vmware.vim.storage.common.kv.LocalKvReaderWriter - Failed to get values for the key prefix '' from the provider '[Name:providerInfoKvProvider Optimistic locking:]'.

ERROR opId=sps-Main-978725-506 com.vmware.vim.sms.StorageManagerImpl - Exception while loading providers!

This is going into the direction, but i can't access the sps web page, because the service isn't running: https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/78900?lang=en_US

Has anyone a hint for resolving that issue?

Stefan

Unable to rename vCenter 6.7

$

Hello

Our customer has a vCenter server with the hostname 'vcenter'. I've upgraded to 6.7.0.42000 so that I can rename it, but the process (as outlined in Changing your vCenter Server's FQDN - VMware vSphere Blog)) produces the error:

"The SSO username does not have administrator privilege."

Obviously I've checked that administrator@vsphere.local is indeed an administrator and everything looks OK. I've tried to create another user, but this process only accepts administrator@vsphere.local.

Google draws a blank on that error.

Any ideas?

Moving VCSA and hosts to new network. What the best procedure or strategy?

$

I'm looking for the best strategy for moving our vCenter Appliance to a new management subnet (subnet B), and that VCSA is currently on the same subnet as the hosts in the cluster (subnet A).  Our setup is below.

Environment (1 cluster):

3 ESXi 6.5 hosts on subnet A

1 VCSA 6.5 on subnet A

Management (subnet B) is firewalled/routed from subnet A

Questions:

How do I change the IP/Hostname of the VCSA to one in subnet B, and still manage the hosts in subnet A?  What ports are required for a firewall for the VCSA to manage them, and if I want to change the hosts to subnet B, will I need to remove them from the cluster, change their IPs/hostnames and then add them back?

Moving and resize Linux VM from remote server to other

Hello guys, I have one OVH server with ESXI Vsphere 6.5U2 and I recently bought a new server on OVH and I installed same ESXI also there.

Now, there is a problem.

I need to migrate 1 VM from Server A to Server B.

The VM is a Centos 64 bit based.

I originally created it as a big thick disk (750GB, used only 206GB...).

Now, my new server has one 800GB SSD.

So the problem is that I have to shrink the source virtual disk to a value like 350G about.

I tried to use VmWare vCenter Converter Standalone, but when it creates the converter helper, it cannot communicate anymore with the VM to be copied (there is no assigned IP).

I get this error :

FAILED: Unable to obtain the IP address of the helper virtual machine.

I don't know how to do...

Do you have any suggestion, please?

Thanks

Disconnect-Reconnect Host vmware in Cluster

good afternoon,

If I give a host in vmware disconnect, the vm that are in that host, continue to work without problems correct?, and then give it a reconnect.

The host is in a cluster with HA enabled, and with the host error option to restart the vm.

What occurs to me is:

Disable HA.

Disconnect the Host and then reconnect again.

I listen to opinions.

Does anyone know if there is a way to view all Scheduled Tasks of all VMs from vCenter? Is there potentially a PowerCLI command that could be used to gather this information?

Need to remove Nimble plugin, but MOB not accessible

$

I got into this chicken egg scenario: My vCenter certificate was expired. I tried to regenerate the certs by following this VMware Knowledge Base

But the regeneration failed with error "lstool get failed: 1", looks like the Nimble storage plugin is causing the problem. According to this VMware Knowledge Base just remove the plugin, all should be good. But I cannot remove it from vCenter portal as its down due to certificate expiry!

Anyone know a way to remove the plug other than the MOB url suggested in this VMware Knowledge Base ?

I have created a new host upgrade baseline using Lenovo ESXi 6.7U3 custom image and now when I try to update the host I get error message - "Cannot copy files to host data.host. Check the management service status, network connectivity with vCenter and disk space on the host.".

I checked the vpxa logs on the host and update manager logs in vCenter and I see the following warning

Adding ESXi host to vCenter fails

Hi All,

I've spend more than two days on this already and I'm absolutely clueless by now. Was hoping someone here can help.

I have one vCenter in my home lab with one ESX. Bought a second ESX and I'm trying to add it to my vCenter without success.

I already deployed a new vCenter installed different versions of ESX no luck.

Right now I have a vCenter 7 and the ESXi host I'm trying to add is running 6.7.

When I try to add the host to the vCenter I see the folloing in the vmauthd.log of the ESX host:

Datastore usage alarm creation in Vcenter 6.7

Hi everyone

I am looking to find a way in vcenter 6.7 to alert us via email when a single datastore has:

  • less than 1TB free
  • less than 800GB free
  • less than 500GB free

While searching in alarm definition section , i found one "Datastore Disk usage alarm" but it is showing options with 75 % or any other percentage of memory left .

I am wandering if we can have any other option or alarm where i can define the threshold in terms of TB or GB space left ?

Thanks

Hello Team VMware,

today, I want to try the new vLCM in combination with HPe iLO Amplifier to firmware patching my ESXi hosts.

I successfully installed the HPe iLO Amplifier appliance and let it communicate with the vCenter.

I also uploaded the 3 latest HPe SPP firmware into the appliance but I can´t use it in the vCenter.

When I press "Add" for the Online Software Depot I get the following error:

Fetching of online depot URL failed. Depot URL not found in the SPP details.

Is somebody aware about that or got the HPe iLO Amplifier with VUM to fly?

I really appreciate your help in advance.

Hello.

I'm facing a strange problem on my vCenter. The message "Failed to request health status from URI..." is shown as Health Message while configuring a vCenter node. Also, I can't see status and other information about most of the vCenter services as can be seen in the following image:

When I try to change anything in Manage tab, I get the following error message:

I have already followed the instructions in KB 2089949, without success.

Has anyone faced with this issue?

Thanks!
