Converter standalone fails P2V Linux server 5.7

Hi Guys,

 

I am trying to virtualize Linux server, details below

 

Physical Linux Server: HP DL360G7
OS: RHEL release 5.7 (Tikanga)

IP Address: 10.88.0.100

 

It's been migrated to virtual environment, details below

 

vCenter server: 10.30.0.100

vCenter standalone server: 10.0.30.101

 

Firewall rules allow 10.0.33.101 to connect to port 22 on 10.88.0.100

I started the P2V process and it did started creating VM on virtual infrastructure. However, the progress kept sitting on 1%

By logging on the web interface of the virtual machine that shows on target vcenter server, it looks like;

 

Based on going through different forums, I configured the static IPv4 address to be on 10.88.0.* network. The physical server was able to communicate with the IP address assigned to this temp machine.

However with more than an hour in this process, it still shows progress as 1%.

 

Any ideas of what could be missing here or is this normal behaviour??

Stuck in Validating Network settings

Hi all,

 

I've been trying to install vcenter 6.7 into the ESXi host 6.0.

Unfortunately in the deployment process, it stuck in "validating network settings" which is shown in the attached image.

I would appreciate If someone can help me to sort this out.

it worth mentioning that the DNS is in place with the correct name and IP address.

Remediate intity fails error code 30

vSphere 6.5

I have 9 ESXI hosts all but one is 6.5 the one is 6.0

 

Trying to update this host having issues with vmTools and thought I would get the host up to date.

 

My error

 

 

The install completes OK

 

 

 

 

 

Any ideas or suggestions?

Trying to migrate several Windows 10 VMS to my ESXI 6.0 Host

 

Getting this error

 

The virtual machine version is not capable with this version of the host

 

I powered the VM down and still unable to migrate the vm.

 

All my VMs are on a Shared storage with all my hosts.

 

Any ideas.

New install of vCenter Appliance 6.5 CPU Stuck

I just installed a new vCenter 6.5 appliance on my ESXI 6.5 Host.  I was very sluggish

 

Migrated to another host added more CPU

 

But the logon is taking a very long time

 

This is from my conso0le.

 

 

 

Any ideas?

Flex Client empty / not showing inventory items after update to 6.7U2

Hello there,

after updating VCSA from latest 6.7U1b to 6.7U2 the flex (flash) client didn't show any items. The HTML5 Client is working.

I tried: other computer, other browser, other vcenter login user, resetting cache,

 

I'm pleased for any hint from the community.

Moving 6.0 Host to 6.7 vCenter Cluster requires Maintenance Mode?

I'm attempting to add a few hosts to our new vCSA 6.7, When I add the hosts to the Data Center, normal options are presented as I expected

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

but when I try to add the host directly to the cluster, I get a message "Hosts will enter maintenance mode before they are moved to the cluster. You might need to either power off or migrate powered on and suspended virtual machines."  I would like to avoid MM as I have not had to do this in the past when I'm moved vCenters

 

 

Old vCenter 6.0 > 6.7

 

Aside from the vCenter version the only difference is I'm using distributed switches on the new vCenter, where I am using standard switches on the old.  I don't see any network migration options during the Add host operation.  Am I missing something here?

How to move ESXI ost from one vCenter to Another

Guys.

 

I have one vCenter 6.5 up and running and now I setup another Center.6.5

 

I want to move 4 ESXI hosts from Vcenter 1 to Vcenter 2

 

I know I need to Disconnect the ESXI host from vCenter 1 and then remove from inventory

Then on vCenter 2 add the host.

 

My question Can I do this with the VM;s up and running?

 

All VM's are installed on Shared NSF storage which All ESXI hosts have Mounted.

 

Any suggestions ?

Hi Team, I'm trying to install vcsa 6.7 and I'm having issues with my DNS is there a way I can install without a DNS. I do have a DNS but when I'm in the server room I'm unbale to ping any machines its probably the network connection?

vCenter 6.7U1 file based backups using FileZilla FTPS Server

I've configured FileZilla accordingly, created a backup schedule for testing. The backup was estimated to be approx 365mb in size. The schedule kicked in and started uploading content to the FTPS server. At the 297mb mark, vcsa start deleting all the content and spits out and error, "BackupManager encountered an exception." The logs on FileZilla do not show anything unusual, but checking the /var/log/vmware/applmgmt/backup.log, I found this entry:

 

BackupManager encountered an exception: While reading from '/etc/systemd/network/10-eth0.network' [line 8]: option 'address' in section 'Network' already exists

 

I checked the file the error is referencing and that particular line is the IPv4 address of the vcsa.

 

I'm stumped.

 

Any suggestions?

VCSA 6.7 migration to another host

I had recently upgraded my vcsa from 6.5 to 6.7 and it was working fine-- I decided to migrate it to another host I added which had more capacity.  the migration went fine but when I went to log on to vcsa running on the new host the next day it had reverted back to version 6.5  and all the other hosts and vms are disconnected.  I tried going in to maintenance mode on the new host and rebooting but this did not fix it.  do I need to unregister and reregister the vcsa vm on the new host ?  TIA

Hi

 

currently im Deploying vCenter High Availability with network addresses in separate subnets. I have configured passive & witness node and enable routing between.

     While im deploying last stage getting below error, Please let me know if any idea about this .

The operation is not allowed in the current stage

 

The management interface (NIC0) IP address does not map to the vCenter Server PNID.

 

I have verified my DNS ( REV/FWD ) resolve successfully

Get-VM works on a system while on another, it returns error "VM with name 'xxx' was not found using the specified filter(s)

Background:

 

I have a spreadsheet with a list of VM names listed & PowerShell will then match one of the filtered VMs & perform power off on the VM in the vCenter. The weird issue I'm facing is the fact that Get-VM seems to work on a system & failed on another.

 

The simplified script that I ran on both systems are as follows:

$equipmentSheet = Import-Excel "\\sharedFolder\spreadsheet.xlsx" -WorkSheetName "Equipment"

$vmRow = $equipmentSheet | Where-Object {$_.Station -eq '6'}

$vm = $($vmRow.Name)

Import-Module VMware.VimAutomation.Core

Connect-VIServer 192.168.1.120

Stop-VM -VM $vm -Confirm:$false

Get-VM $vm

 

Output from the failed system where it has no problem stopping the VM but when Get-VM command is issued, it doesn't seem to be able to locate the VM.

MigrateVm from readOnly NFS datastore

Hi guys,

I have a problem with RelocateVM_Task.

I use vddk 6.7

 

I have read only NFS datastore which contains .vmdk files and regular read/write datastore.

 

I create VM on regular datastore, attach disks from read only NFS datastore and try to migrate those disks to regular datastore (which already contains my .vmx file).

 

I tried several scenarios:

 

1. power on vm and then start migrate storage only. It failes on powering on. But it works well with read/write NFS datastore.

 

2. start migrate storage only and then start power on vm task. In this case my power on vm task waits for migrate task.

 

I wand to use my VM as fast as it possible after creation.

And I have limitation with read only NFS datastore.

 

Do you have any solutions?

Embedded Linked Mode from Windows > Appliance Migration question(s)

Hi all,

 

We're (finally) migrating all our Windows vCenters to the 6.7u2 Appliance version from 6.5. I had originally planned on setting up an external PSC and joining them to it so we could managed them in Enhance Linked Mode going forward.

 

During my Googling I find that 6.7 supported Embedded Linked Mode. The only guides I could find on how to do it, however, were for fresh deployments; deploy one and set the other to join existing SSO domain.

 

Obviously I don't want to redeploy my vCenters just to get Embedded Linked Mode but via this guide on Windows to Appliance migrations, I don't see an option to join an existing SSO domain.

 

Does anyone know a way to join two fully deployed vCenters both with embedded PSCs into Embedded Linked Mode, or should I go ahead and deploy an External PSC?

vcsa 6.7: a problem occurred while connecting to the target server or host

Good Morning,

 

 

I am doing the deployment of a vcsa 6.7 but at the moment of indicating the host when I put the name of the host it indicates a communication error.

 

 

nevertheless I place the ip and if it allows me to continue the installation.

 

 

additional direct and inverse zones are created in the dns.

 

 

please help

Change vCenter VCSA display/runtime name

Just wondering if anyone can answer this.

 

Mostly a cosmetic issue, but is there any issues with renaming the VCSA 6.5U2 VM and its runtime name (vcenter --> Configure tab --> Settings --> General --> Runtime Settings --> vCenter Server Name

 

All I really want to do is change it from UPPERCASE to lowercase to appease some of the format/standardization police in the organization, and line up with the other lowercase vcenters showing in linked mode.
