SNMP agent problem after update to VCSA 6 update 2

Hi, yesterday I updated VCSA appliance from version 6u1 to 6u2 and after the update I have problems with SNMP agent.

The SNMP agent was working after restart about 30 minutes and then it stopped responding to SNMP queries.

I tried another reboot, and it was the same. So I reset SNMP agent using snmp.reset and configured again communities and enabled SNMP agent using snmp.enable, then again it worked about 30 minutes and stopped responding to SNMP queries.

I also checked if the snmpd service is running and it is. Sometimes it helps to restart snmpd service, but not every time.

 

Can someone please advise?

Share Baseline between VUM

I'm searching a solution to share Baseline between few vCenter, a way to create a baseline on a specific vCenter and propagate this new baseline to few vCenter.

 

Except UMDS, is there another to proceed ?

Unregister a vCenter extension with a space and special character in the name

I'm unable to unregister the vCenter extension ["EMC Avamar Backup & Restore"] .  If I paste it in the UnregisterExtension, I get 'InvalidArgument' .  I also can't click on the extension in the browser.  I get a browser error when it tries to navigate to ..../mob/?moid=ExtensionManager&doPath=extensionList%5b"EMC%20Avamar%20Backup%20%26%20Restore"%5d , err_empty_response.  I believe both are related to the spaces or the & in the name of the extension.  Does anyone have ideas?

vCenter Update Manager

What you think about this error? It was always together with vCenter Update Manager, as long as I remember. Updates were always total pain. Always must update one by one, otherwise error, and even then you must restart every time. Sometimes HTML5 webclient version better, sometimes not. And sometimes nothing helps. -   "The task failed because another task is currently in progress. Either your task, the task that is in progress, or both tasks require exclusive execution.".......And no matter what version vCenter.

Get HTML5 VM console link

Hello

 

I am trying to get the link for the HTML5 VM Console using a script. I have found two scripts that perform this task:

 

* html5 console connection to a vcenter guest · GitHub

* vghetto-scripts/generateHTML5VMConsole.pl at master · lamw/vghetto-scripts · GitHub

 

And both return a link like this:

https://10.10.10.10:7343/console/?vmId=vm-****&vmName=test&host=10.10.10.10:443&sessionTicket=c***F&thumbprint=19:96:***…

 

But it does not work. Port 7343 or 7331 are not even open on vcenter:

my$secureHtmlPort = 7343;

my$htmlPort = 7331;

 

If html vm console is launched from vcenter, this is the link vcenter will use (and of course it works):

https://10.10.10.10:9443/vsphere-client/webconsole.html?vmId=vm-****&vmName=test&serverGuid=805af9ee-****-****-****-67a9…

 

As you can see, there are some common arguments but urls are not very similar. Can someone add some light here? I could modify previous scripts to get a similar output to the second link, but that looks more like a forced solution.

Repoint vCenter 6.5 with External PSC to other External PSC

Hello Guys

 

I have two vcenter environments each with their external psc, each environment is separate but we want to pass them to linked mode.

 

Site 1: vcenter-01 + psc-01

Site 2: vcenter-02 + psc-02

 

Both have the same SSO Domain vsphere.local and  I need to know if I can vcenter-01 pass it to PSC-02 to be in linked mode.

 

I was reading and understood that with cmsso-util repoint --repoint-psc psc_fqdn_or_static_ip [--dc-port port_number] is possible.

 

Someone has performed this operation. The other thing that happens if each environment has its NSX in standalone mode.

VCSA Update Manager Service Not Starting 6.7.0.21000

Hi,

 

I have vCenter server appliance installed and running version 6.7.0.21000.

When i try to go and start the update service (which is set to start

automatically), I get an error that states "service crashed while

starting". I do not know where to find the error logs for the crash.

 

I have attached some of my shell session, if it helps. It displays the

running services, and the error when trying to start update manager it via

shell.

Thick to Thin sVMotion

I am trying to reclaim zero space on several Windows VMs. I have already ran sDelete and completed a storage VMotion however the VMDK stays at full storage usage even though it is thin. I can run punchzero and reclaim the space however I am looking for a way to do it without the down time. We are running ESXi6.5 with a mix of VMFS5 and VMFS6 datastores.

The above article and many others state that it should be possible so I am wondering what I am missing in the process.

j arrive plus a acceder a interface de vsphere client voir le msg affiche en piece jointe

et aussi pour vcenter impossible de continuer installation il se bloque au niveau du mon de passe de sso en affichant le msg suivant voir pj

comme solution jai ajoute id sur dns au niveau active directory  parcontre ca fonctionne tjrs ^pas merci d avance pour votre aide j ai vraiment besoin de votre aide pour debloquer cette etape et un peu avancer

vcenter server with 2 IP address

hi guys,

 

need your help, we face issue in our vcenter server. vcenter cannot started with 2 ip addresses. before that i saw it was running properly but after restart the server, vcenter cannot started.

it can start with only 1 ip address . in vcenter, all of host server use segment 2.x

 

vcenter 2 ip address : Ethernet 1 : 192.168.1.x ( management)

                                    Ethernet 2 : 192.168.2.x ( communication to host)

 

host : ip address 192.168.2.x

Installing VMware vCenter Converter Standalone fails on windows 7 with error : Could not extract file

Hi,

 

I'm having trouble with installation of VMware vCenter Converter Standalone on my Windows 7 Enterprise workstation. I tried installing different versions (6.1.1, 6.0.0, 5.5.3, 5.5.2) and every time I get the error "could not extract file ." (with no file name mentioned, as you can see in the attached file) after installation begins (I passed all the installation questions successfully).

 

Prviously I had v5.5.2 installed, I installed v5.5.3 succesfully without uninstalling previous version. As I wanted to install the latest version, I wanted to make it cleanly, so I uninstalled my current version (5.5.3), and now I can't install any version, even my v5.5.2 that was previsouly installed.

 

Did someone already had this problem and found a solution ? Or do you have any idea that could help me ?

 

I tried to run the installer as administrator, but it didn't change anything.

In case it could have side effects, I have these VMware products installed :

- VMware Player

- VMware vSphere Client 4.1

- VMware vSphere Client 5.1

- VMware vSphere Client 5.5

To test the installer, I installed v6.1.1 on windows 2003 and I had no problem.

Cannot join vCenter server to AD domain

When  clicking the join button I receive the above message. I receive the same error message from the HTML5 and Flex clients. I don't know if it has anything to do with it but this vCenter server was linked to another vCenter server's SSO domain. That server is domain joined. I've not had any success finding information about this error. Anyone have any thoughts?

ESXi /VC network settings for SQL server VMS

Hi

 

We are having several SQL disconnections and would like to know if there is a ESXi network setting or a setting anywhere to modify to accept high load SQL

 

It would be a network setting which wouldn’t affect SQL Server operation.

 

If a piece of network equipment can’t handle network packets up to 9000 bytes then it will be fragmented, or rejected if set to do not fragment. I’d get that changed if the network equipment can’t be identified. Could it be a setting on the vSwitch in the ESXi hypervisor?

PSOD- ESXi 6.5

Hi Team,

 

I have a HP Blade and constantly getting PSOD error as per the attached screenshot.

 

We have already re-installed ESXi, Mother Board and all the other H/W parts have been replaced, however still the same issue.

 

Need assistance.

Hello Friends,

 

I was trying to install Vcenter and encountered the error:

VMware VirtualCenter failed firstboot. Please search for these symptoms in the VMware Knowledge Base for any known issues and possible resolutions. If none can be found, collect a support bundle and open a support request.

 

Please let me know if any suggestions

No objects are displayed in the inventory - vCenter 5.1

Good afternoon,

 

I have a client that is indicating that the VMs are disconnected in their vCenter, that was the day of yesterday, today I connect to check the vCenter, and observed that there are no objects in the inventory of the vCenter. Host, VM, Datastores or switches are not displayed, even I am entering with the user administrators.

 

However, at the vCenter services level everything is Ok. I think you should add the hosts again the inventory.

 

In the same way I listen to your suggestions.

VCSA 6.7 backup doesn't always display previous jobs

I'm noticing that whenever i go into the VAMI (? the port 5480 interface) and check the backup activity to make sure everything is still working, I'm having a hard time getting the data to show up. I've got one VCSA with 164 backups listed (only keep a rolling 30 days on disk though) and it can take a few page refreshes and clicking on another section and then back on the backup section before it loads and I can see ths history to make sure everything is reporting as complete and working as expected.

 

Anyone else seeing this or know how to make it load successfully the first time?

VUM missing after Update

Recently I updated from 6.7U1 to the latest as of 1/19/2019 and noticed that the VUM HTML5 and Flash elements are missing,

 

Additional info

     i am using VCSA and the service at least according to both the cli and admin ui is running

 

i have tried to reregister the extension with the mob page but no luck

Is this common and if so how can i fix this issue
