How do I reset the VCenter password or remove it so I can rebuild?

I am new to the vmware community. I am not sure how to find this information, so maybe someone can help me.

I inherited an ESX 5.1 environment. There are two Hosts and there is a VCenter server set up. I need to expand the storage of a virtual drive on one of the servers, but I cannot access the VCenter. The last IT person didn't document the VCenter password, though they did say that it was on the domain. The credentials for the individual ESX hosts work, because I can log onto each of the hosts, but I can't edit setting without going through the VCenter.

Is there a way to reset the password or possibly remove the VCenter so I can rebuild it?

I have done installations of VCenter before, but not had to actually work on them after that. They've just always worked.
