We are planning on upgrading our vCenter server from 4.1 to 5.1 Last week we P2V'd the vCenter server so that we can now clone and test the upgrade. My plan is to clone the vCenter VM, ensure the NIC's are disabled and then test the upgrade process.
If I select the clone option available from within vCenter that clone will be completely independent of the original vCenter VM correct? I can delete the clone when I am done? Should the clone be done off hours?
Besides walking through the upgrade process is there anything that stands out that I should ensure that I test that might not be obvious.
