I've never had an issue with vMotion before, but for some reason I can't change hosts on my VM's. They all have Vmware tools, up to date, and everything is green with them. I have 3 hosts in the cluster, and I'm able to migrate other VMs from 2 to 3, and back again from 3 to 2, but when I try to migrate from 2 to 1, it fails telling me there's no network connection. I tried a couple more VM's, and they failed in an identical way.
Here's the full error:
Failed to start migration pre-copy. Error: The ESX hosts failed to connect over the VMotion network.
vMotion migration [167894541:1376412154364871] failed to create a connection with remote host <10.1.221.12>: The ESX hosts failed to connect over the VMotion network
Migration [167894541:1376412154364871] failed to connect to remote host <10.1.221.12> from host <10.1.222.13>: Network unreachable
The vMotion failed because the destination host did not receive data from the source host on the vMotion network. Please check your vMotion network settings and physical network configuration and ensure they are correct.
The SANs are on a private network (the IP's above), connected via iSCSI, and not connected to the main network at all We've never had any issues with them in that setup.
We did do a rack move of the entire environment last night, but I've double verified that everything is plugged in where it should be, and if it wasn't, the host wouldn't have access to the shared storage to bring up the VMs that are on it already (which were load balanced onto it from 2 where we put them all before tossing them into maintenance mode and shutting the hosts down for the move). Going from 3 to 1 also fails in the same way. I do get a "validation successful" when initiating the migration.
Ideas?
