Hello All
I have worked with vSphere now for approx 8-9 years and have run into a problem at a customer site that I am unsure how to resolve.
There are several clusters at their site, however specifically there are 2 clusters that are having perofrmance issues with multiple vCPU's allocated to VM's
The problem only arises with multiple vCPU's and the DELL R720's, the other hosts are R710's which work fine.
There is a noticable reduction in CPU performance and overall VM pereformance when a VM with more than 1 vCPU is moved from an R710 to the R720, I have run a CPU diagnostic tool on the VM's when moved and the response is approximately half that of the R710.
Below is some addtitional information about the setup:
- VMware vCenter Server Version 5.1.0 Build 1123961
- VMware ESXi 5.1.0, 1065491
- host1 DELL PowerEdge R710 Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU X5670 @2.93GHz
host2 DELL PowerEdge R710 Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU X5670 @2.93GHz
- host3 DELL powerEdge R720 Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2667 0 @2.90GHz
Any thoughts?
Cheers
Slardy
