Hi,
We are trying to upgrade a vCenter 5.1 to 5.1U1a. The first step is to upgrade the SSO server which is one the same VM where vCenter is installed (Windows version, all-in-one VM vCenter deployment). The SSO upgrade hangs at "Registering product" and eventually, it throws up a prompt showing "Installer is not responding". The upgrade fails. Here are the steps we have done and wonder what went wrong:
- Mounted 5.1U1 ISO from my laptop to my test vCenter and ran autorun. Ran the SSO installer to upgrade SSO, entered SSO admin credentials, installer hangs
- mounted 5.1U1 ISO from my laptop to my test vCenter, copied contents of ISO to C:\ and ran autorun from C:\. Ran the SSO installer to upgrade SSO, entered SSO admin credentials, installer hangs "Registering product", then "Installer is not responding" prompt is shown
- Mounted 5.1U1a ISO from my laptop to my test vCenter and ran autorun. Ran the SSO installer to upgrade SSO, entered SSO admin credentials, installer hangs "Registering product", then "Installer is not responding" prompt is shown

- Tried silent install procedure for non-English locales from https://www.vmware.com/support/vsphere5/doc/vsphere-vcenter-server-51u1-release-notes.html. After checking the log, the log shows "Installer is not responding"
Thanks,
