Licensing Question

Hello All,

I have 2 questions and I would appreciate if someone can clear my doubts regarding these.

1. I have 10 ESXi hosts with "Ent plus lic" managed by vcenter1. I created another vcenter server (separate vcenter, separate sso and DB - not linked mode) and I removed 1 esxi hosts from the current vcenter1. When i try to add this host to new vcenter2, it gives warning:

"The license key you have selected is a part of another vcenter inventory. If you choose this key, it will be added to this vcenter's inventory. To ensure compliance, you will need to remove the key from its original inventory." It has 2 buttons- "Use Key" and "Enter Another Key". (Screenshot attached).

My question is, if i select use key:

1.1) Will it remove this enterprise plus license key from the original vcenter1 and add it to new vcenter2?

1.2) Can the same license key be in the inventories of 2 different vcenter servers? Is this a violation or compliance issue?

2. My second question is when I go to Home -> Administration -> Licensing on vCenter. I can see my vcenter 5 standard license key there. It says "Capacity = 2 instances" & "Assigned = 1 Instance" because it is currently assigned to 1 vcenter1 only. Can I add the same license key to activate my new vcenter server (vcenter2) as my key says capacity = 2 instances?

Thanks,

AG
