We're unable to upgrade our vCenter server install (Windows based) because the engineers who set up the server are gone and we don't know any of the SSO credentials.
Seems like it would be simple enough to create a new Windows server or use the appliance version of vCenter and just replace our current install.
There is one big concern for us. We are using distributed switches, we don't actually need them that's just how it was set up, and wanted to know what the process would be when we create a new vCenter server and need to recreate the distributed switches.
Outside of recreating them so that they are the same or similar to the old server is this going to be an issue when we move the hosts over to the new vCenter server? If we have to reconfigure some of the virtual networking after the host move that's fine I just don't know what the process is when using distributed switches.
