Greetings to all. I hope this will be a simple question since I am a simpleton. At least I feel like one, because I am trying to update a Windows vCenter server from version 5.5.0 Build 2001466 to the latest build which is 5.5 Update 2e which I think is build 2646482. When I try to run the installer, I get a message saying something to the effect that the program is already installed. Is it mandatory that I uninstall and remove everything and then install the newer build? There has got to be an easier way... do I need to update one component at a time? I have used the update manager many times to update the ESXi hosts; I run the scan, then stage, then remediate - that usually works fine for updating components on the hosts and VMs, but I can't seem to use this method to update vCenter, and when I try the installer, well, it is like I said above. I hope there is an easy way to update it without completely uninstalling it and doing a bunch of fancy database manipulation. But if that is what it takes, then so be it. I can't seem to find a good technical document either - they are all about upgrading from 5.1 to 5.5 or something to that effect. So I will certainly be very grateful, most sincerely, for any help or suggestions anyone might have.
Many thanks,
Sam of Son
