Windows VM Performance in vCenter and Windows Guest

Hi,

I have been trying to find the correct way to measure Windows VM performance, i always get different views from both the vCenter performance (advanced tab) stats for Memory Active Counter and memory usage from Performance tab on task Manager window with in windows guest. Obviously memory usage in windows guest O/S is showing as almost full memory usage (eg: 7.4/8 GB RAM allocated) and at the same time looking at the VM performance stats in vCenter is showing as very minimal usage.

I get to see this sort of difference on pretty much every VM, i am trying to compare. so the important question is which one do i need to believe as correct usage, either vCenter stats or Windows Guest stats ?

I have been reading on this topic on different forums, articles but still didn't find the right answer or correct explanation to believe either of these views as the correct one. so that i can convince the user that windows memory usage is not the right and vCenter VM memory usage is the correct way of looking at Memory usage for a windows VM.

can someone please look at this and point me to the right direction of looking at the memory usage for VM.

thx in advance.
