Quick question.. our work flow when patching a server template, is to convert to vm > power on > patch > run sys prep > covert to template.
Now we have a custom configuration that runs when we deploy a new machine anway.. so is the manual running of sys prep even necessary? I mean, we are essentailly running an instance right on top of the other. For some reason I can't seem to find much literature on this; what I have found generally lists this above method as best practice, but I don't understand why running it twice would be necessary.
What I want to do, is fire up the vm > patch > power down > then deploy. Is this method ok to use?
Thanks
