I could be having one of those days, but I can't seem to figure this out. We have a cluster with three hosts, each has 256 GB of RAM. There is a single resource pool in the cluster. The RP is set to unlimited for memory and CPU. The total reservations on VMs is low at 37GB for vShield and Nexus VMs. On the Summary tab of the RP, the Host Memory and Guest Memory max value appears to be 315392 MB. I am expecting that value to be around 256*3 minus overhead. I changed HA to +1 and turned off admission checking, but the value doesn't go up or down in either case. I have no idea where that number is coming from. FWIW, the configured value is 308 GB and worst case is 319 GB.
Another RP I have is configured with a 1.2 TB reservation configured on an 1.5 TB cluster with HA+0 and only shows 925696 MB of host memory??? (904 configured and 928 worst case)
Non-HA DRS clusters appear way more inline with values I would expect.
There appears to be a pattern above. Am I having a total lapse in brain function here or what?
Thanks in advance!
