Hey all, I recently joined the world of VMware (yeah, I'm late to this party) but I haven't done any of the training yet. I'm running vSphere Essentials Plus on two ProLiant servers, each with 600GB of local storage and 3TB of SAN. Per the recommendation of the tech who set this up for me we installed vCenter on the local storage of one of the servers. I'm now in the process of trying to move vCenter onto the SAN so I can have some redundancy with vCenter but I'm unable to move it. If I try to migrate vCenter to the second server I get the following errors when I select the destination:
Unable to access the virtual machine configuration: Unable to access file [600GB-local] Server 2012/Server2012.vmx
Unable to access file [600GB-local] Server 2012/Server2012.vmx
Virtual disk 'Hard disk 1' is not accessible on the host: Unable to access file [600GB-local] Server 2012/Server 2012.vmdk
Unable to access file [600GB-local] Server 2012/Server 2012.vmdk
Unable to access the virtual machine configuration: Unable to access file [600GB-local] Server 2012/Server 2012-75cd0e24.vswp
Unable to access file [600GB-local] Server 2012/Server 2012-75cd0e24.vswp
I tried migrating vCenter back to the server it's currently on thinking I'd be able to change the destination to the SAN but that option never shows up. I even tried using VMware Converter but it won't do anything with vCenter running and it won't do anything with vCenter turned off. Any ideas on how to move vCenter off of the local storage?
Thanks,
Joe B
