I have a fairly large vcenter instance with 50 hosts and around 1200 vm's running on those 50 hosts. The person who setup the instance used a lot of flexible network adapters and now that I've updated to ESXi 5.5 I'm having some issues and upon many hours with vmware support I am trying to swap those vm's over to VMXNET3, however I have a problem. I've found many scripts to run telling me which ones have "flexible" network adapter type however when I get the output it doesn't say "flexible" it tells me which one it choose to use (i.e. VMXNET3 E1000 etc).
I need to see which vms are definitely set to "flexible" and not which adapter they chose to pick because of being set to "flexible" I'm not super great with sql queries or powercli commands so bear with me if I sound like a noob when evaluating replies.
I also have an existing spreadsheet with all the vm's in there with the hardware and tools version which I'd like to roll this flexible sheet into so I don't have to painfully transpose 1200 entries. I have searched and searched online and on vmware communities and have yet to find a script that works for me. I'm running VCenter 5.5 currently with 49 hosts at 5.1 and one at 5.5.
Thanks in advance.
