Which VM is in Production

I am a total VMWARE noob and apologize for my lack of knowledge and appreciate any help I can get here...

I have a client running ESXi 5 Essentials with one production VM, SBS 2011.

There are two datastores:

1. 2 x 900GB Drives RAID 1 labeled SLOW

2. 5 x 146GB Drives RAID 5 labeled FAST

There are several folders with ISOs, images of old C drives, etc. and the VMs. The SBS 2011 VM is called ACME-DC with a size of 288GB.

SLOW contains several files associated with ACME-DC as I would expect with common associated files (vmdk, vmxf, vswp, etc), plus another called ACME-DC_3.vmdk with a size of 525GB

There are no additional files associated with ACME-DC_3.

On the datastore labeled FAST there is an ACME-DC_2.vmdk file with a size of 194GB no associated files.

All 3 vmdk files, ACME-DC, ACME-DC_2 and  ACME-DC_3 have a date stamp of 3-14-2014, the day I brought the server down to run a diagnostic and replace a faulty drive on the RAID 5 set, FAST.

My questions are, what could have created ACME-DC_2 and ACME-DC_3? I believe it is ACME-DC that is the production VM. Does it rely on DC_2 and DC_3? If not, can I archive (I would never delete them) DC_2 and DC_3 to make room available on the datastore?

Thank you in advance for your help!
