I was wondering what the least expensive licensing model would be for a SMB who's needs have outgrown SQL express?
SQL licensing is not what I do and I am getting quotes from $300 to $30,000 from vendors like CDW (so SQL licensing must not be what anyone else does either
). What I would like to do is get the least expensive combination of server/CAL's or per core that keeps my SMB legal - and I thought someone here might have some experience in the area.
Basics of the environment:
- Databases needed: vCenter, Composer, Horizon View Events DB.
- Database server will have 2-cores
- All services configured to use one service account (one user) DBA & Windows Authentication
