Can't ping my vCenter VM

I deployed my vCenter to my ESXi machine through an OVF file.  When vCenter boots it tells me no networking was detected because I'm not using a DHCP, then I set the static IP and subnet. Since I can't ping it from the host (windows 7), I can't access the web console using http://<IP>:5480 to continue with the setup. I do not need any of the VMs to have access to the internet.  All my VMs are on a 12. network.  vCenter can only ping the ESXi server, but no one else.
