About File share migration

Hi,

Currently using Windows 2003 as file server. Since it will EOS on 2015, thus I am planning to migrate it to Windows 2008.

Currently there are 5 disks on Windows 2003 VM (1 for OS and 4 for data storage).

Can I install Windows 2008 as new VM, then add existing virtual disk (use 4 current data storage disks) ?? If yes, can data storage disks connect with both Win 2003 and Win 2008 parallelly ??

Or I have to create 4 new disks then transfer all files ??
