Migrate vCenter 5.1 to vCenter 5.5 No Fling

Hi All

I have seen numerous topics of this subject, but non give definitive steps on how to migrate from a Windows vCentre instance to vCentre Virtual Appliance.

People have point to a Inventory Snapshot fling, which looks good, but im not sure if its ideal for my particular scenario.

We are planning a stages migration, whereby we do not move all the hosts from the existing 5.1 vcentre into the new 5.5 virtual appliance vcentre.

Is there a tool which captures just the folder structure and permissions, which I can then import in the new vcentre?

what would be the best way to ensure, the appliance functions correctly?

Any tips from anyone, who has been down this path, would be appreciated.
