UPdate the Vcenter build in linked mode

Currently we are 3 v center servers with 5.0.0- build no- 456005 all are connected in a linked mode and we are going to update one of the vcenter with patch or update u2 build no-913577 which supports windows 2012 installations So my query is the linked mode will work in that case like one of the vcenter is updated and another two are still with the older one.

Please note here i am not upgrading the version from 5.0 to 5.1 Just updating the patch or update the build number to support new windows 2012.
