Hello,
I have a question around individual VM vMotion settings. Here is the current setup and desired result.
Setup:
- ESXi 5.1 ENT+ cluster & 5.1 vCenter
- Dedicated 10Gb vMotion vLAN
- Storage I/O configured
- High priority VMs have higher shares
Situation:
- During a host entering maintenance
- All the VMs try to vMotion onto different host at the same time (automatically determines how many simultaneously)
- High priority VM are now trying to fight on the same level as normal or low priority VMs for vMotion bandwidth/resources
- All the VMs try to vMotion onto different host at the same time (automatically determines how many simultaneously)
Desired Result:
- Set a flag on high priority VMs that they are always moved with preference during a vMotion (I know this can be done if you move individual VM [standard or High priority] options during vMotion)
- This way (for example) if there is a transactional DB, it is vMotioned first with protective shares before a file server
Any suggestions? I have not found anything yet but hopefully there is an advanced parameter I can set on a VM.
Thanks
B
