Eval download for vCenter 5.5.0 Update 1a is same file as Update 1

I have been building out a nested virtualization lab using Fusion, and was working with vCenter 5.5.0 Update 1 installed on a Windows 2012 R2 host. I blew it all away to start over, and when I went to download it again, I see there is a 5.5.0 Update 1a.

When I downloaded it, I noticed the file name is the exact same as the old one - VMware-VIMSetup-all-5.5.0-1750795-20140201-update01.iso. I tried it from multiple computers and found the same each time.

Also, I tried using the Download Manager so I could maybe see more details as it was downloading, but both Chrome in Mac and PC, as well as IE 11 on Win8.1 and Safari all failed to load the Download Manager, and it downloaded the file directly. When reading through the FAQ, it seems to indicate that the DM is only compatible with IE 5-7, Netscape 6,7 and some old Mozilla versions! Hard to believe that VMware would promote using their DM as the preferred method if that's really the case. Perhaps they haven't updated the FAQ?

Since I am only using the eval versions, and can't download the official files, I am thinking maybe they are linking to the wrong file with the eval version. Any assistance is appreciated.

BTW - here is my config in case anyone has something like it:

Late 2013 Macbook Pro Retina with 1TB SSD and 16GB RAM

Fusion 6.0.3

3 x ESXi 5.5.0 Update 1 VMs (in Fusion), each with a 5.5GB boot drive, 4GB and 8GB virtual disks. Untag the 8GB disk to not look like an SSD (for VSAN testing)

1 x Windows 2012 R2 VM (in Fusion) for vCenter with a 40GB boot drive

Seems like a lot of little quirks with VSAN and HA (error messages you can't get rid of, etc.) so I'm rebuilding to do it in a cleaner set of steps. Only 16GB of RAM makes it hard with Fusion since there is no thin provisioning of RAM. I had to up the RAM on the ESXi hosts to 5GB, leaving me only 3.5GB for vCenter, which might not work. I'm exploring putting vCenter on a Windows 8.1 VM instead. I also tried installing the VCSA, but got an error writing to disk. My ultimate goal is to gain proficiency with VSAN, and get hands-on time with 5.5 towards VCP certification.

Thanks!

Jason
