Auto-Modify Virtual Machine Device Protection

Hi All,

1 ,what is  Auto-Modify Virtual Machine Device Protection task at vcenter and how it's working .

2, after perform the above task my VM get hung state,each time i need restart the VM.

any one help us to understand the above task ,
