vCenter Server and SQL Express

I am creating a new vCenter 5.5 server that will manage 5 hosts in a cluster with 37 virtual machines at our primary site. At our DR site, we will have 4 hosts setup in a cluster for replication from the primary site. The SQL requirements for using the express bundle say for up to 5 hosts and 50 virtual machines. We would like to be able to manage the 4 hosts with the same vCenter server at the DR site as well. Knowing the SQL Express requirements, is it still possible to use that instead of going to the full blown version of SQL? Would there be any performance issues using express, or does it limit you at 5 hosts? Thanks in advance for your help.
